Each staff member of the Student Success Center serves on one of six collaborative teams. Each team is dedicated to enriching and improving a different aspect of the Student Success Center.

Team Statement
The Assessment Team is responsible for improving the assessment strategies and techniques and to enhance retention for the Student Success Center through surveys, assessments, Institutional Effectiveness (IE), and the Departmental Performance Review (DPR).

Goals
- Provide a training workshop for SSC staff that focuses on the new Program Assessment
website and process changes instituted for 2007-2008

Undeclared Team
Team Statement
The SSC Undeclared team is committed to developing fun and innovative programs and advising strategies to help engage and empower students to make a decision on a major in a "timely" manner. A wide range of advising connection programs and services for all Undeclared students will be developed & promoted to assess their interests & strengths, explore UCF majors/minor options, plan with providing a major exploration "action plan", and decide on a major program that's right for them and their academic/career goals. For us: "Student SUCCESS = making a thoughtful MAJOR DECISION".
Goals
- At least 40% FTIC's and 50% transitioning Undeclared students will declare a major by the end of Spring 2006.
- At least 85% of Undeclared event attendees will rate the programs (strongly agree, or agree) as having assisted them to make a major decision.
- At least 5 partnerships for collaboration university departments (outside of SSC) will be established for directly assisting students in the major/career exploration process.
Staff Development and Morale Team
Team Statement
The Staff Development and Moral team initiates and plans professional and personal growth opportunities for members of the Student Success Center. Promoting positive attitudes amongst team members is key to high job satisfaction and performance.
Goals
- Promote an atmosphere of collaboration within the Student Success
- Assist the Student Success Center staff members with professional development activities/skills/tools to further career growth.
- Provide resources and information to Student Success staff members for personal growth, and provide opportunities for positive incentives and rewards for a job well done.
Outreach Programming
Team Statement
The Outreach Programming Team is responsible for coordinating collaborative semester and summer programming and services between each office within the Student Success Center. This team is also responsible for developing proactive and engaging initiatives which will assist students' development during their first year of college. Our goal is to communicate to undergraduate, first year in college students, that their opportunities for success are enhanced through connecting with the programs and services of the offices of the Student Success Center.
Goals
- Coordinate retention programming efforts for the Towers, student placed on academic probation, and the 125 FTIC spring admitted students.
- Increase use of SSC website by SSC staff and students
- Increase connection with students during the first week of class by 10%
- Increase participation of SSC peer mentors, peer tutors, SI leaders, and graduate assistants in the "How to Facilitate an Academic Success Workshop" part II and increase use of SSC student worker staff in facilitating such workshops.
- Redesign the Spirit of Excellence Website for Orientation
Advising and Transition Team
Team Statement
The advising and transitions team will provide structure for the training of new advising staff, opportunities for staff to participate in a continuing series of advisor development workshop events to facilitate growth into experts in the advising field and, in collaboration with colleges, develop and implement a transition plan for current freshmen to become aware of the advising resources of their college and to smoothly transition from their first-year advisor to their second-year advising office.
Goals
- Establish advising components and practices necessary in advising first-year college students
- Develop strategies to create more accessability and availability of advising for first-year college students
- Provide professional development opportunities for SSC advising professionals, graduate assistants and peers
- Develop and implement college transition programs in concert with all colleges
- Support and enhance the multiple-term registration process available for first-year students
- Develop Resource Center web page specifically designed for all SSC Advisors
- Develop Advising shortcut sheets
- Establish standards and expectations for the advising process in order to make services consistent across SSC Offices
- Provide professional development for all SSC Offices
- Develop and implement a training program for all new advisors
Objectives
- Promote practices and procedures of advisement according to the needs of the SSC Advising Offices
- Develop an advising manual for all new professional staff, graduate assistance and peers
- Develop an advising time-line for events and needs of the SSC
- Be a resource and conduit for advising information, knowledge and assistance
Retention Team
Team Statement
The purpose of the Retention Team is to support SSC retention efforts by providing a structure to the offices for reporting retention data.
Goals
- Provide structure and support for SSC offices, staff, and leadership to identify significant retention issues
- Create a structure for reporting SSC retention initiaties and success
- Develop a SSC end-of-semester retention report based on each office's retention categories/data
