Academic Alert
Academic Alert is a program developed by the Student Success Center to retain First Time in College students. A student may be placed on academic probation when the student's UCF cumulative GPA drops below a 2.0. The student will remain on academic probation until their UCF GPA reaches a 2.0 or higher. If a student achieves a semester 2.0 GPA while on academic probation, but the UCF cumulative GPA does not reach a 2.0, the student will continue on academic probation.

Academic Success Workshops
SARC's Academic Success Workshops are a semester long series to enable UCF students to further develop necessary college level learning strategies and study skills for success inside and outside the classroom. These workshops are interactive, timely, and provide students with very easy concepts to where they will be able to notice a difference in their approach to their learning immediately. These workshops are open to any UCF student and last about 50 minutes. UCF freshmen receive 500 LINK points for attending Academic Success Workshops.

Advisors in Residence (AIR) Program
The primary purpose of the Advisors in Residence (AIR) Program is to provide UCF first-time-in-college students greater access to academic advising in their first year at UCF by assigning FYAE academic advisor at the selected university on-campus, or affiliated residential community. The advisor provides on-site advising as well as opportunities for other academic support programming. AIR program advising is provided at Pegasus Landing, on a full-time basis. Hours are posted and emailed to residents of the facility.

Alumni Mentoring Knight Program
The Alumni Mentoring Knight Program, coordinated through the Sophomore and Second Year Center, is an event facilitated during the fall semester and conducted to assist undeclared and transitioning students (potential major changers) in the careful exploration and selection of a UCF major. Prominent UCF Alumni and staff from several university student support offices attend to meet with students. Student attendees learn the importance of making major and future career connections, the value of internships and Co-op opportunities, externships and job shadowing provided through UCF.

Brother-to-Brother Program
The mission of the Brother-to-Brother Program is to assist multicultural and first generation males persist and be retained at the University of Central Florida. The ultimate goal is for each male student to graduate from the University. This will be accomplished by providing various academic, social and economic workshops to empower male students to achieve in the classroom setting. There will also be several wrap-sessions during the semester to discuss issues facing multicultural and first generation male students at the University.

College Achievement Program
The College Achievement Program (CAP) is a student success program designed to meet the academic needs of freshmen students entering the University of Central Florida with SAT and/or ACT scores below the state required minimum; that are required to take college preparatory courses. If a student’s SAT (math 440 verbal 440) and/or ACT (English 17, Reading 18, math 19) score is below the state required minimum, then they are required to participate in CAP throughout their first academic year.

College Level Academic Skills Test (CLAST)
The College Level Academic Skills Test (CLAST), unique to Florida, is an achievement test that measures selected communication and mathematics skills adopted by the State Board of Education (SBE). The CLAST consists of four (4) subtests: Essay, English Language Skills, Reading, and Mathematics. All students seeking an Associate of Arts or baccalaureate degree from a state of Florida institution are required by the state of Florida to satisfy the CLAST requirement. There are several methods by which students may meet this requirement. The University Testing Center (UTC) provides the following CLAST testing and services to UCF students: paper-and-pencil testing each February, June, and October; computer-adaptive testing (CAT-CLAST); Advising; Alternative Applications; Hold Petitions; and Lower-Division Registration Waivers.

Excel Program
This is a new collaborative effort with the faculty from the EXCEL program grant to provide first year students early and continuous connections with their assigned first year advisor in order to help retain more underrepresented students in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) majors.

First Generation Program
The mission of the First Generation Program is to connect first generation college students to academic, social, and community resources and provide first generation college students, parents/guardians with informational and academic resources that will increase the students' academic success, persistence and increase graduation rates.
One of the major goals in the program is to increase the preparation for first generation college students for higher education opportunities. The program also seeks to increase the collaboration and networking efforts between parents, University, department, colleges, and the Central Florida Community through support services, academic enrichment workshops, personal growth workshops, guest speakers, career and academic success workshops. We want to increase academic success and retention rates by providing academic support services and personal advising.

Florida Teacher Certification Examinations (FTCE)
The Florida Teacher Certification Examinations (FTCE) are the exit exams required for graduation from the UCF College of Education and to be certified to teach in the state of Florida. Florida law requires that teachers demonstrate mastery of basic skills, professional knowledge, and content area of specialization. The FTCE consists of the General Knowledge Test (GKT), Professional Education Test (PEd), and Subject Area Examinations. The Florida Educational Leadership Examination (FELE), for certification of administrators (such as school principals), is also available. The University Testing Center (UTC) is a FTCE/FELE test site for UCF students, students from other institutions, and members of the surrounding community.

General Knowledge Math Workshop Series
SARC provides UCF students and the community with the General Knowledge Math workshop series prior to the test administration date during the spring, summer, and fall. Over 10 hours of assistance is provided in a group setting to better prepare those taking the math portion of the General Knowledge Test. Practice problems, quizzes, and formula sheets are provided during the workshop.

Knight Success Program
The Knight Success Program, offered to select first-year students, presents specialized programs and advising that addresses the major concerns facing freshman students. By participating in the Knight Success Program, students are given opportunities to explore their strengths, set their goals and goal plans, and receive help in connecting to resources on campus and beyond that can enrich their academic experience. This is a limited access program, available by invite once a student applies for admission to UCF.

A strengths-based advising approach will serve as framework to help KSP students succeed at UCF. This approach to advising focuses on identifying students' strengths and how these can help students' transition to the university, impact their academic achievement and overall university experience

Learning and Study Skills
SARC has over 80 study skills available in topics such as time management, concentration, note taking, textbook reading, test preparation and goal setting. A learning skills specialist is also available for individual appointments to assist students in refining their skills for college level learning.

Learning Fair
SARC hosts a Learning Fair each fall semester during the month of September to introduce UCF students to the various academic support services available on campus. UCF student clubs, which have an academic focus, also participate to promote their membership, activities, and leadership opportunities. During the Learning Fair, academic success workshops are presented on topics such as power studying, goal setting, and time management. UCF freshmen receive LINK points for participating in the SARC Learning Fair.

Mastering College Level Coursework Seminars
SARC provides five pre-college seminars for first-time-in-college students. These seminars focus on the academic and life skills needed during the first two weeks of college to achieve success both inside and outside the classroom. These seminars also provide freshman students with techniques and tips to start their college experience with confidence and empower freshman students with the understanding that it is time for them to take responsibility for their education. There is a fee for participation in a seminar. UCF freshmen receive LINK points for participating in a Mastering College Level Coursework Seminar.

Outreach Programs
FYAE’s outreach programs offer advising opportunities outside the main office. The purpose of the outreach programs is to help retain freshmen students by increasing the availability and visibility of advising resources through different venues. These opportunities are available for targeted populations like the Honors College and LEAD Scholars students. Other programs are available in residence halls with a significant number of FTIC residents or at the Student Union and include quick advising and workshops on financial aid and major exploration (e.g. Mega Advising, Advisor on location, and Saving my Scholarship)

The Pegasus Success Program, facilitated by the Student Academic Resource Center, is a specialized 6-week summer bridge program offered to select students during the Summer B term prior to their freshmen year. The program is designed to assist students in pursuing and achieving their academic goals and to assist students with the transition from high school to college. Seizing Opportunities for Achievement and Retention
Seizing Opportunities for Achievement and Retention (SOAR) is a six-week academic summer program that builds and upgrades student's writing, verbal, mathematical, social and study skills necessary for them to succeed in college. This intensive program provides students access to UCF and offers developmental academic support services. SOAR’s intensive instructional program, structured daily tutorial services, and regular advising activities, foster student success and retention. This is a limited access program, available by invitation only after a student applies for admission to UCF.

Supplemental Instruction
Supplemental Instruction (SI) is a series of weekly study sessions for students taking historically difficult courses. SI is open to all students who want to improve their understanding of course material and improve their grades. Attendance is voluntary. For the student, it's a chance to get together with people in their class to compare notes, to discuss important concepts, to develop strategies for studying and learning the subject, and to test themselves before the professor does. At each SI session, the student will be guided through course material by your SI leader who has previously taken the course and earned a grade of A or B.

Tutoring
SARC provides undergraduate students with free individualized and small-group tutoring in accounting, astronomy, biology, chemistry, physics, and statistics. The staff of peer tutors provides approximately 125 hours of tutoring a week. Peer tutors are certified through three levels of the College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA) Tutoring Certification program. Students who make tutoring a part of their regular academic routine notice an increase in academic performance.

Welcome Expo
The Welcome Expo is an annual campus event that is hosted by the Office of First Year Advising and Exploration and co-sponsored with the Student Government Association. The Expo takes place in the fall, during the first week of classes. The Welcome Expo serves to showcase UCF clubs, organizations, and departments, as well as local area businesses.
